Whether you’re a Mossberg supporter or not one look at the tight craftsmanship sported by this model, will show you a sharp contrast to the previous look of guns manufactured by Mossberg. The famous ‘slop’ between parts pump action, that allows for variable in the field use and outdoor grit, that works smoothly even when covered with dirt is cast away for this new seamlessly pieced auto-loading shotgun with no wiggling parts. Fiber optic sight and a magazine quick unload button are also featured on this shotgun. I like the top of the receiver push safety feature. I am used to the button safety that is located beneath the receiver behind the trigger and frankly, I like the top in sight feature better. The sweet desert is a two-year warranty from defects promised by the oldest family owned made in the U. S. A. firearm manufacturer since 1919 to back it up.
The reputation of their pump shotguns being the only shotguns purchased by the United States government that meet or exceed specific military specifications is a reflection of the standard of quali
ty that the men and women at Mossberg bring to the production of their firearms. Offering firearms available with single double pump and bolt actions there is a shotgun model for every hunting and shooting need out there. The Workhorse 935 magnum water fowl models are every winged game birds nightmare with three interchangeable Accu-Mag choke tubes that handle lead and steel loads among others. The barrel is over-bored to 10 gauge dimensions giving less recoil. The turkey model is available in 24" or 26" over-bored barrel lengths and include the high performance Accu-Mag extended turkey tube.
Purchased on Thursday and field tested on Friday this shotgun took several rounds of Winchester supreme 3" turkey loads and then spent several 3.5" loads through its’ the 3 ½ inch chambered barrel. It handles both loads great with a tight pattern at 25 yards and still patterned well enough to pepper the head of a paper turkey at 50 yards with a full choke. To see for myself if it would cycle a box of 2 3/4 shells through the auto load, I tried Winchester super sport/sporting clay shells, light loads. An empty box later between my husband and me it had performed flawlessly. I was surprised as everyone said it would not cycle 2 3/4 loads, especially light loads. Supreme Winchester AA super sport shells would eject smoothly but when we tried Universal load, the casings had to be pulled out afterward. In my opinion, this is a sweet varmint and game bird gun that handles heavy enough loads to take down pheasant and waterfowl and for bringing down small predators as well. Look out spring turkey the workhorse 935 will make light work of harvesting your feathers.
