My top picks for bow sights this archery season include the familiar round design with an inline pin, and another round machined sight that are well known, and a square new kid to the industry with an incredible improvement that has advanced the accuracy of crosshair bow sights. Trophy Ridge: The Matrix Sight & The Dropzone Rest www.trophyridge.com
Trophy Ridge has brought the new vertical inline pin technology to their corner of the sight market. ViPIN technology promises to improve your 3-D target accuracy and your ability to harvest game with their revolutionary concept of the inline pin sight. Steel Tek pins in two fiberoptic size options let you choose your level of light reflection in the new Matrix ViPIN sight. The reflective sight ring comes standard on all Matrix sights.
The first time I took this bow sight to the target it impressed me for a couple reasons. First the Match-Tek colors perfectly match Mathews bows so they made a great addition to my new Mathews Mustang. The second reason is the accuracy Trophy Ridge brings to the target with the aid of sight pins positioned in the center of the sight ring.
Nitro Lights are also included for increased sight illumination. These florescent glo-sticks will light up the sight in low light hunting situations. A shake and snap of the stick and you have an instant green light that inserts into the lower portion of the MatrixT sight, enhancing the glow of your sight fibers.
Pairing the Matrix with the new Trophy Ridge Dropzone rest puts a sweet setup in any bow hunters' hands. I have an issue with a drop away rest that can drop an arrow before it is released. In fact, I just set up my other bow without a drop away for that reason. However the depression in the arrow rest of the Dropzone cradles the arrow and makes it more effective in eliminating a lost arrow in mid-draw. The unique designs of this drop away rest, hold the arrow until the string is released, falling away to allow flight. This is the set up I used all summer to practice at the target and bring my archery skills into better range for hunting in the archery season.
Copper John Corp.: Dead NutsT Hunter Sight www.copperjohn.com
A fairly new company to archery, Copper John Corp. was formed just five years ago in October of 1999. The 'express intent' of this company is to design and manufacture a superior archery product and then sell it at an affordable price.
My Dead Nuts bow sight is made in the USA by Copper John Corp. Copper John makes their Dead Nuts Hunter sight in right and left-hand models. My 3-pin sight is a Realtree Hardwoods HD finish that matches my Mathews Mustang HD camouflage. This all metal machined sight offers widths of either .029 or .019 red and green fiber optics that can be seen clearly in low light. The
Dead Nuts Hunter sight comes with an orange aiming sticker on the facing edge that stands out in low light situations. The zero pin gap and vertical gang adjustments, not to mention a round pin guard that aids in peep alignment. As with all Copper John Corporation Sights the Dead Nuts sight is made with the companies' SoloPlane Technology. This new technology brings all the sight pins to the same length and straightens out the old idea of zig zagging pins within the sight ring. I like the look this SoloPlane
Technology brings to the sight. In my opinion, it is easier to find and set aim upon the target accurately with the bright fibers and straight pin lines.
With the result of a recent archery hunt with this sight I understand why it is said to be Dead Nuts accurate! I first used this sight about two months ago and after I shot several sets of broad heads in close placement to each other on the target I decided to try it out this archery season.
The day I took it squirrel hunting was the first time I saw for myself that Copper John Dead Nuts is as dependable at the target as it is on the hunt.
Total Accuracy Creations: Triple-Cross Multiple Crosshair Bow Sight www.tacsights.com
I recently discovered a hot new bow sight that stands out in a league of it's own. This square new kid on the block is made in the USA by Total Accuracy Creations. TACT has redesigned a well-known concept that was formerly known as unusable for bow hunters. The manufacturer of this
Triple-Cross Multiple Crosshair sight has done the research in designing and machining a durable accurate cross hair bow sight for archers. This sight is turning heads at the archery shows and will soon be a popular name in bow hunting households. For the first time bow hunters can have an accurate crosshair sight with a zero gap tolerance that is easy to adjust and allows quick crosshair replacement without readjusting your sight.
The Triple-Cross by Total Accuracy Creations has manufactured a box shaped precision machined 6061 aluminum sight that performs well in any condition or temperature. The protective structure of this square sight holds three U-Slides with standard .022" cross-hair mono-filaments and will hold up to six cross-hair units. The micro filaments are red green and yellow and these cross-hair are also available in .019" and .024" Adjusting each of the sight cross hairs for elevation is easy and extremely positive. The illuminated crosshair filaments are highly visible even in low light.
I was careful with this sight at first because I do a lot of brush busting to get into my hunting areas. I like to get out of sight when I deer hunt and sometimes that means going through hedge rows and dense vegetation. I did not have any problems with the sight holding up under the conditions I hunt and I am quite impressed with the strength of the U-Slides and the
microfilaments. This sight weighs in at 5-ounces, which adds little weight to my Parker Challenger. What's more it can be set up for right or left-handed shooters.
The sweetest part about the TACT Triple-Cross Multiple Crosshair Bow Sight, might just be the wonderful mark it makes on the world of bow hunting. One of the things that drew me to this sight in addition to the machined durability and the hot new look of this square sight was the message it shares with all men and women. The most important message we can share is about missing the mark and how to correct that problem. This sight definitely brings the mark of accuracy to any target it is aimed at and offers a great way to share the message of Christ with our hunting friends.
