NRA to Host Women’s
Turkey Clinic and Hunt in Johnstown, Pa.
FAIRFAX, Va. - The booming gobble of a wild turkey in spring can get a hunter’s heart racing like few experiences in the outdoors. But locating a wily tom and getting him into gun range are two completely different things. Knowing where to set up, when and how to call, and what type of gun to use are just a few of the necessary skills for success in the turkey woods.
Women interested in learning these skills and more are invited to attend a combination NRA turkey hunter clinic and hunt at Stackhouse Park in Johnstown, Pa., May 22-24 through NRA’s Women On Target hunting excursion program. The clinic is open to Pennsylvania women only and features a day of expert instruction followed by a guided Saturday morning turkey hunt.
A Pennsylvania hunting license is required to take this course. The cost of the clinic and hunt combo is $200. This fee covers guide services and materials used for the hunter clinic, but hunters will need to bring their own shotguns and ammunition. Interested women are urged to sign-up quickly, as space is limited.
To register for this clinic and hunt, or to learn more about hunting opportunities available through NRA’s Women On Target program, please contact Denise Conni at 800-861-1166 or dconni@nrahq.org, or visit www.nrahq.org/women/hunting/index.asp.
