Interested mentors can download the online
Mentor
application at www.womenhunters.com. They must read, sign and email/mail it to the contact listed for consideration in the program.
Mentors may also apply for acceptance into the WomenHunters Mentoring Program who already have started a mentoring relationship, or who have already found someone on their own who is asking to be mentored.
Acceptance into our program is the next step, with
Mentor
contact information being posted on our
Mentor
web page for prospective protégés to view.
Interested Protégé’s must read eligibility, and also download the Protégé application at www.womenhunters.com. They must read, sign and email it to the contact listed for consideration and matching in the Mentoring program.
Both
Mentor
and Protégé will also be required to sign a waiver of liability form, submitted along with their application.
When a minor applies to the program(anyone under age 18), a Parent/Guardian Agreement Form and Waiver of Liability will also be required in addition to the minor child’s application.
Both Mentors and Protégé are then contacted by WomenHunters.com about their match
and acceptance into the program. They are reminded about the eligibility and policy requirements, and sent equipment to use (as available) during the mentoring process.
Mentoring Program Policies and Procedures are listed in the Mentoring Program Manual, distributed to both
Mentor
and Protégé upon acceptance into the program.
Evaluation and Recognition
Throughout the Mentoring program, both mentor and protégé are expected to share their experiences on the WomenHunters mentoring forum and also to write articles embellished with photographs for use on the
Mentor
page at womenhunters.com. Articles and stories will also be published in the WomenHunters club quarterly newsletter.
WomenHunters staff /BOD will regularly request a brief written evaluation and answers to questions regarding progress in the program from both parties. Evaluations will also be distributed upon the completion of the program for feedback.
It is expected that the protégé not only learn about hunting and hunting related activities, but also learn outdoor writing skills and how to best illustrate and share their experiences with others in the written word as well as in photographs. If the mentor needs assistance in guiding the protégé with their writing skills, Womenhunters will locate and match a staff writer to offer assistance throughout the program.
Program Partners/Sponsors
**Sponsor Coordinator: Linda Burch
It is essential to the WomenHunters Mentoring Program that manufacturers and hunting industry leaders offer their support and assistance for the program to be successful. WomenHunters anticipates locating and securing Program Partners who will offer assistance in various forms; through hunting equipment, hunting clothing, hunting accessories and promotional items, donated hunts and donated hunting-related learning opportunities, and/or cash donations to help fund the program.
Program Partners will be asked to sign a “Memo of Understanding” in which WomenHunters itemizes what you can expect from us, and the Partner lists what is to be donated to the program for the
Mentor
and Protégé and/or for the WomenHunters organization. Minimum one year commitment required.
Equipment and gear would be recycled thru the Mentoring program or returned in good condition at the end of the 1 or 2 year Mentoring commitment, if the Program Partner so designates.
Program Partners will receive recognition in the form of display advertising on our Mentor page and in our WomenHunters Club newsletter, in addition to being included in articles written for posting on the www.womenhunters.com Mentor webpage, all over a one or two year period.
Program Partners will also be asked to supply advertisement banners and/or brochures and advertising/promotional items to be given to those enrolled in the mentoring program and for promotional use by the WomenHunters organization at conventions and shows.
Program Partners will also receive feedback from the Mentor & Protégé, and the satisfaction that they’re helping ensure the future of hunting by offering their assistance where it’s needed mostin the early stages of hunting when getting started is often cost prohibitive, difficult and confusing at times when choosing gear.
