WomenHunters HOW Mentoring Program - Eligibility

Mentor Eligibility & Policies

Eligibility requirements of mentor:

  • Mentor must be at least 21 years of age
  • Mentor must adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Mentor must agree to a 1 or 2 year commitment to the mentoring program and commit to spending a minimum of 2 hours per month with the protégé
  • Be willing and able to communicate weekly with the protégé
  • Help set goals for the protégé
  • Serve as a positive role model and friend
  • Treat your protégé with respect at all times
  • Be knowledgeable about hunting, and hunting and firearm safety procedures
  • Must be responsible for assuring mentored hunters have taken a hunter’s safety class or are enrolled to do so
  • Mentor is responsible for reviewing hunting safety guidelines prior to engaging in hunting or related activities
  • Mentor must follow all regulations regarding hunting at all times
  • Mentor must carry a valid hunting license and/or tag during hunting
  • Be willing and able to share stories and photos online at www.womenhunters.com and participate on the online forums
  • Have reliable transportation and a valid drivers license
  • Have a clean criminal history
  • Not currently undergoing treatment for substance abuse
  • Have not falsified information supplied to the WomenHunters organization
  • Will not posses or consume beer, wine or alcoholic beverages  while engaged or prior to actively engaging in mentoring
  • Will not use or possess illegal substances while engaging in mentoring or otherwise

 

Protégé Eligibility & Policies

Eligibility requirements of protégé:

  • Be of age to hunt in your state, if a minor
  • Must have taken, or are enrolled to begin, a Hunter’s Safety or Firearm Safety class
  • Must demonstrate a desire to participate and follow all policies and procedures
  • Agree to a 1 or 2 year commitment with your mentor and agree to spend a minimum of 2 hours per month over that period
  • Be willing and able to communicate weekly with your mentor
  • Be willing to share your experiences at www.womenhunters.com through articles, photos and forums
  • Must follow all regulations regarding hunting
  • Must be willing to review safety procedures and follow safe hunting practices at all times
  • Must carry a valid hunting license and/or tags and hunter’s safety card when hunting
  • Treat your mentor with respect at all times
  • Do not possess or consume beer, wine or alcoholic beverages while engaged or prior to mentoring activities
  • Does not use or possess any illegal substance while engaged in mentoring program or otherwise

**Violations of eligibility and policies will result in immediate termination of the mentoring relationship**
