Danny helped us get in the tower and get the stool set up so Alexis could see out. Then he handed me my rifle, kissed us both, and wished us good luck. When Alexis was up in the seat helping me watch, she could not remember to keep her arms still and below the tower opening. When she could not stop waving her arms, I would send her to the bottom of the tower to color until she would get tired of it and wanted back up with me. But she is still young and has a long way to go, with plenty of time to learn and enjoy. I just hope I am around to enjoy it with her.

We were sitting there and Alexis said, "Mawmaw, I'm hungry. "OK, Alexis, you will have to go back down to eat, "I whispered. When she finished eating and drinking her tea, she came back up. By that time, she was bored and said, "I want to go back to the house." I told her I was sorry, but we had to wait for Danny to come pick us up. By this time, I had given up on seeing any deer.

Alexis lay down in the bottom of the tower to wait for Danny. It wasn't long before she said, "I have to go to the bathroom. I asked her if she could wait, but she replied, "No, Mawmaw, I have to go bad." "OK, come on; you will have to go right out here beside the tower," I said. I opened the back door and as soon as Alexis stepped out on the platform, a doe on the far end of the clearing started stomping. That doe stomped the whole time Alexis climbed down the steps, went to the bathroom, and climbed back into the tower. I showed her the doe and she said, "Shoot it, Mawmaw; shoot it, Mawmaw." I waited until the doe turned and I squeezed the trigger....
