 This year for Valentine’s Day I do not have a boyfriend…I know, I know, it’s very hard to believe; most people are shocked! However, as that special day approaches I find myself thankful of this fact because it means I don’t have to suffer through the typical Valentine’s Day gifts! I’ve gone out with some sweet fellas in my day, but none that have been able to get it right when it comes to this holiday. Some of you out there might know what I mean, but some of you may be lucky enough to have a guy who can pick out a gift that makes your huntress heart a flutter! So as this day approaches, since I won’t be getting any gifts, I’ve dreamed up some of the gifts that I’d like to get instead of the usual ones. Move over pink and white glittery cards, gaudy heart-shaped boxes, cutesy teddy bears, and sickly sweet chocolate! Here are presents for the true Women Hunter… or at least for this Woman Hunter!
1. A thorough cleaning of my gun and gear. And if he wants to move on to the non-hunting laundry, that’s fine by me!
2. The perfume I’ve grown to love…which oddly doubles as deer lure
3. First pick for the best deer stand location
4. Admittance that he is not always right (I know this has nothing to do with hunting, but it would be nice just the same!)
5. A true telling of that big buck story, minus all the mind-blowing exaggerations
6. Some hunting land all of my own (as long as I’m dreaming, I might as well dream big!)
7. Camo PJ’s – the comfortable kind!
8. A year’s supply of ammo
9. A decent pump action shot gun before turkey season starts
10. Completion of my deer skull European mount, which has been a work in progress for quite some time now!
So that’s it, my list of Valentine’s Day gift replacements! I hope all of you Ladies, attached or not, have a wonderful Valentine’s Day. After all, minus the marketing hype, it’s about expressing your love and appreciation for the varying relationships you have with others. As for me, I’ll be celebrating the relationships I have with my friends and family, for they truly do ROCK! I also may just get myself a few things off my list anyways! Why wait???
