There are many factors which make me want to climb out of bed in the wee morning hours to clad myself in camo, grab my gun, and drive to my favorite hunting locale, often after a sleepless night in anticipation of the hunt. The weather condition is seldom one of those factors. However, regardless of the weather, I go.
I’ve hunted in the pouring rain, unbearably hot temperatures, and yes, even a few snowstorms. Since the ideal hunting/weather conditions rarely present themselves, I brave the elements and continue the pursuit of my favorite game here in the Ozarks or wherever I might be hunting. It’s an addiction I hope to never overcome.
However, I hate being cold. In fact, I don’t know anyone who actually enjoys freezing their buns off- even to go hunting! It’s just not a pleasant experience.
To remain warm during the colder months of hunting, I have previously found myself struggling with layers of heavy uncomfortable clothing, which restricted my movement and were nearly impossible to maneuver around in. In addition, finding a comfort zone is a challenge. I either have on too many layers or too few and regardless of how many layers I have on, my fingers are always frozen to the bone and my toes ache from being too cold. Sitting still is an impossibility, as moving seems to be the only way to bring those frozen body parts back to life.
When I was asked to try the Grabber Warmers, I agreed with some skepticism. I had tried other brands of hand and toe warmers and was never too impressed with their short-lived warmth and effectiveness. The Grabber manufacturers though insisted that their products were different, so I set out to see just how effective their products were.
As I packed for the 3-D Shoot in Cole Camp, Missouri this past Spring, I tossed in a few samples of their products, including their hand, foot, toe, and body warmers. We were expecting spring-like weather and I really didn’t anticipate the need for them. In fact, I didn’t even pack a jacket. After all, it was SpringTime! I went armed with one long-sleeved flannel shirt and a pair of jeans. Upon arrival though, I realized I had made a serious mistake.
The temperatures plummeted and we woke to a chilly temperature of 36 degrees. We arrived at the First WomenHunters’ 3-D Shoot Fundraiser at the Twin Lakes Bow Benders Archery Club to find many of the participants standing around a bonfire trying to stay warm, while others were huddled in groups trying to swipe a little body heat from the next person. There were a few smart ones among the group wearing their long-johns and camo jackets, but most of us who had traveled from afar were not included in that group.
I immediately went in search for Sue Burch, founder of the WomenHunters Organization. I knew Sue, who suffers from fibromyalgia, would be miserable, as the cold weather seems to affect her condition, including increased muscle and joint pain and overall body aches. I was concerned about my friend and wanted to make sure she was okay. I found her wrapped like a mummy, thanks to Janice Baer who had dug through her truck and found a heavy parka and fleece hat to loan her, along with a sleeping bad for her to wrap herself in.
After hugs were exchanged, I presented Sue with some Grabber Warmers. It didn’t take any persistence on my part to get her to try them. When I later asked Sue her opinion of the Warmers, she stated, "I was so thankful you got there with the Grabbers. They really did make a difference. My feet were frozen and as soon as they were in my shoes, it was like ahhhhhhhhhh!"
I too tried the Grabber Warmers that day and am sold on these products and not just for hunting or cold weather conditions. They are perfect for those who suffer from joint and muscle pain or other ailments where heat therapy is needed and offer soothing pain relief. Depending on your needs, Grabber has the warmer for you.
Each of the Warmers are non-toxic, environmentally friendly, odorless, and non-combustible. Shaking the package is not necessary to make it work, just expose it to air. The Heat Treat Body Warmers lasts over 12 hours, as well as the Mega Warmers. For those of us who need more than 12 hours of warmth, the Ultra Warmer lasts over 24 hours! The Hand, Toe, and Foot Warmers last from 5-7 hours.
I will definitely be keeping a supply of these handy for the upcoming hunting season and encourage you to get your own supply! Don't be left out in the cold. Check out the Grabber Warmers website for more information about their products and where you can get your own Warmers. www.grabberwarmers.com/index.htm
