Note: I want to thank Brady Copeland and his family for sharing Pine Acres Plantation with us and allowing us this wonderful hunting adventure. Pine Acres Plantation is not a commercial plantation and is just for the Copeland family and invited guest.

Saturday morning came bright and early. Brady was supposed to wake us up, but Danny woke up and we took our showers and dressed before Brady ever got out of bed. There was fresh hot coffee, donuts, muffins, and Danish to have before the hunt. We were coming out of our rooms drifting into the kitchen for that hot fresh cup of coffee. All of us were excited and really pumped to get out there to hunt. I don't usually hunt in the mornings at home, so this was really something for me. Each one of us was taken to our tower or ground blind. I think I was one of the last to be taken Saturday morning. We went to same tower that I hunted Friday evening. Danny helped me get into the tower the same as before. I got my seat positioned so that I could watch the pines that were behind the tower yet see the field also... since I am left-handed, usually everything is backward for me.
Here I am sitting in the tower and it is still dark. I can hear the bucks chasing does in the pines behind the tower. My heart is pumping in anticipation. I cannot wait until it gets light enough so I can see. The field starts to lighten and I watch some birds, still hearing the bucks chasing the does in the dark pines. This is worse than waiting on Christmas and I just cannot stand it... it is driving me nuts! Finally, the woods start to lighten up and I am getting excited... then nothing... talk about a dead quiet... it was as if someone flicked the switch. I did see a few more birds but that was it. I heard a few shots and I just knew one of our ladies had gotten one.
We all waited at the back of the lodge until each one of us got back in. Just like Friday, we all thought one of us had a deer because of the shots. Breakfast was ready, so we all went in and had a wonderful Southern breakfast and talked about our hunt. Hattie is a wonderful cook. We all discussed the fact that the deer were moving at night and not during the day. Since no one got a deer again this morning, we drew a name again for the prize to be given away again. Darn it! This was not the way it was supposed to be happening. Sheila Burnham was the lucky winner of the second set of Mossy Oak ladies shirt and pants.
We spent the afternoon hanging out and getting to know each other. Karen and Herm had brought along skeet and some clay pigeons and decided to set it up. It was great fun... We shot the afternoon away. The next thing we knew Hattie was calling us for lunch. After lunch we had to get ready for our hunt. As we were ready and trickled out the door, Brady took us to our stands/blinds.
Brady took me to a different tower this time. Danny helped me get into it as usual. If you are wondering why I need so much help getting into and out of the towers, it is because I have a lot of problems with my legs due to fibromyalgia. This tower was overlooking a field, but through the woods on the far side I could just see a pond. Brady had taken Mandy and Jason on somewhere past where they dropped me off. I heard some shots coming from that way and I just knew it was Mandy. I was so excited for her... I was waiting on mine to walk out now since I knew she got hers.
Back at the lodge everyone was waiting for all of us to come in and find out where all the shots came from. Darn, it wasn't from any of us again. That shot sounded so close to me I was positive it had to be Mandy. I just could not believe that it wasn't Mandy who shot.
After supper we relaxed and enjoyed each other's company. Since it was Saturday night, I had planned to give away two prizes. The Nikon Binoculars was for the biggest deer and the Mothers 2-hour Jerky Maker for someone getting a deer at this point. I got the names out and mixed them up well. I cannot remember who drew the names for me, but Mandy won the Nikon Binoculars. Guess what... she won the Mothers 2-Hour Jerky Maker also. I promise I folded it back up, mixed up the names and let a different person pick out a name, and she was not looking when she picked out. It was just Mandy's lucky night...even if she didn't get a deer, she won the prizes. It wasn't long and I turned in... just one more hunt.
