Compound Bows, Deer Hunting, Bear Hunting

My love of all things hunting, stems from an initial experience at a Becoming an Outdoors Woman event in 1996. It was there that I shot a bow for the first time. I wasn't good at all, since I used a right-handed bow while I'm left eye dominant. Nevertheless, I loved it and thought it was something I could (and would) pursue at home. At that time, I was a stay-at-home mom of four young kids. That Mother's Day, I bought myself a bow, shot it often, and joined a 3-D league.

Listening to the guys at the archery shop always talking about hunting, made me believe it was the next logical step up the ladder of archery, so up I climbed. I love archery in general, but bowhunting in particular. My husband soon took up the bow so he could be close to me. Now he loves it too!

With bowhunting being a passion of mine, I have joined several of our local state's bow hunting organizations and became members of the following:

I have been a part of Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) in MN as an archery instructor and Women In The Outdoors (WITO) also.

I am the photographer for Bowhunting.net at the annual Archery Trade Association shows (ATA)

My love of hunting landed me a job at Double Bull Archery making hunting ground blinds for several years. I have more recently been making FireTape for WildTech Corp. I also  hunt with co-WomenHunter (and president of WildTech Corp.) Linda Burch, as she has graciously opened up her hunting grounds to my husband and I.

I have tagged whitetail deer, wild turkey, wild hog, black bear, rabbits, and raccoons all with the bow, and have caught several carp while bowfishing.

Other hobbies that I have are sometimes incorporated into my hunting endeavors. For example, I love to take landscape and nature photographs, and I also dabble in some poetry, which often comes to me while sitting on stand or in a blind. "There's no place that I'd rather be, than out in the woods, just God and me."

Shoot straight, shoot often, and may all your arrows fly true.
