What Most People Don’t Understand

I have a shirt, which helps the basic misunderstanding of the great sport of hunting. The shirt states, " There’s room on earth for all of God’s creatures…right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy". A lot of people at my school and in the public freak out because "animals have feelings too". Well I want to clear up what hunting means to most, if not all of us. Hunting means food on the table for my family. Instead of going to a grocery store or butcher we make our own burger and it’s a lot healthier. That’s just the main post-hunting benefit. I don’t hunt for the trophy. It’s a big plus, but I hunt to be with my family, friends, and the outdoors. Hunting is the longest running tradition in our family and I’m the only girl who hunts. Every year all the hunters (pretty much every man in my family and me) walk to our stands or ground spots and relax. We watch the nature: squirrels running around, birds flying and chirping, leaves falling, and all of Mother Nature’s beauty. This helps me appreciate nature like nature should be appreciated. And one of the most misunderstood points of hunting is the actual kill of an animal. My family and neighbors are big supporters of Quality Deer Management. Our guidelines are that the spread of a buck has to be outside the ears and no less than four points on one side. But we really don’t have a lot of restriction on does, but we try to let the little ones grow. So my point here is that most people don’t go and shoot everything that they see. I just want people to understand what I have just stated and accept that hunting is a growing sport and its never going to end.
