Big & Small Game Hunting

Hello, my name is Jessica Bailey. I live in West Plains, Missouri, which is in the southern part of the state, very near Arkansas. I am 12 years old. I have been around hunting and fishing all my life. My grandpa works for Quaker Boy Game Calls and is a taxidermist. He, my grandma and my aunt Tracy were always going on hunting trips and bringing back game. My mom used to hunt but now she just fishes. When I was little I wanted to be like Tracy, so I started out by shooting a bow. My first bow was a plastic yellow toy bow. Since I liked to shoot so much my aunt got me a bigger bow, it was a Buckmasters Young Bucks Bow. I began to go to 3D shoots with her. I practiced and practiced and finally I won my first trophy. Since then I have gotten second in the Missouri State Championship and 5th in the Arkansas State Championship. I have my trophies proudly displayed in my room. I now have a real bow that I can hunt with. It is a High Country Outlaw, as soon as I get it to 40 pounds I am going deer hunting with it. Tracy has taken me along on her deer hunts before and I got to watch her shoot a few deer, but now I am old enough to hunt myself. I have plans to hunt for deer, turkey, ducks and squirrels. I have gone turkey hunting twice with my own gun. I have not gotten a turkey yet, but I am determined to keep trying. I am also very busy in school. I play softball, basketball, track and cross country. I enjoy writing and reading. I compete for my school in the Young Authors competition each year. I am very excited to get to write for WomenHunters. I hope that you will enjoy my stories as I begin hunting.
