Big & Small Game Hunting

My name is Bekki Hanson. I’m 16 years old as of right now but soon I will be 17. I come from a fairly big family. My mom, Mary, is like my best friend. Not to sound all geekish but yeah she’s the most important person in my life. My dad, Russell, well he’s the man who introduced me to the sport I love so much, hunting. I have two sisters and a brother. My oldest sister, Kaelyn, is 23 and she just had my first nephew, Brody William. He’s another big part of my life. One day he’s going to be a hunter. In my living room we have three big buck head mounts. Every time he’s here, he just stares at them. This summer my other sister, Jessica, got married and I was the maid of honor. It was a very fun and homey wedding. Her husband’s name is Jesse. LOL. We call them boy Jesse and girl Jessie when talking to them. Then there’s my brother, Russell. He’s has influenced my life greatly. My first year hunting I shot a four pointer. I was hunting with a 6mm Remington and as most of you know its not a very big gun. I shot my four pointer straight through the lungs but he amazingly ran about 500 yards. My brother and I were looking and looking for him and then he stopped, brought his gun up and then screamed "Bekki , YOU GOT IT!" He practically fell down the hill running. When I finally stumbled my way to my first buck/deer he grabbed me and swung me around. He was so proud of me. He even did me the favor by dragging it out. He’s always been my hunting buddy and just my buddy in general. So that’s my family.

I’ve always been a tom girl. I prefer to be called a cowgirl. I love to be outdoors; fishing, hunting, hiking, swimming, farming, gardening, sleeping, just anything to get me outside. I’ve always been into hunting. I’m the only girl in my family that hunts. Most of the men in my family hunt. Hunting is our life. If were not hunting we’re talking or getting ready (even if its like8 months away) for hunting. Ummmm………besides hunting I love music. I play five instruments; tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, flute, oboe, and a little on the piano. But yeah I guess that’s pretty much me and my life. I know I’m kind of boring.
